When he arrived for Event #9: $15,000 No-Limit Hold’em, Aram Zobian was already carrying momentum from a strong run at the 2026 U.S. Poker Open. The event marked his third straight final table, one that he managed to turn into a title.

Chip Leader from Beginning to End

Zobian started the day as chip leader and never fully lost control, even as the table featured several experienced players. After finishing fourth in Event #7 for $70,000 and fifth in Event #8 for $68,625, he closed this one out with a win worth $292,800.

The event drew 61 entries and created a $915,000 prize pool. The final table included Clemen Deng (6th – $50,325), Nicholas Seward (5th – $68,625), Marius Gierse (4th – $91,500), and Chino Rheem (3rd – $128,100), before Zobian met Brandon Wilson heads-up.

Aram Zobian told spoke during the winner’s interview,

I’m getting very lucky and am very grateful for it. I’m also making some good reads, also grateful to be flowing and have my nervous system be in a good place.

Despite the results, Zobian said he avoided putting pressure on himself after two close calls earlier in the series. He kept his focus on steady decisions rather than outcomes, which seemed to carry through to the final table.

The turning point came of the game was when the player eliminated Gierse, then navigated a chip disadvantage against Wilson. The geads-up play shifted back and forth before Zobian finally edged ahead, closing it out when his poker hand of king-six held against Wilson’s ace-nine.

“There’s a Lot of Need”

Beyond poker, Zobian drew attention for what he represented at the table. He wore a checkered outfit and carried a silver Ethiopian cross during winner photos. He also supported the Natna Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit he co-founded after visiting Ethiopia’s Tigray region.

There’s a lot of need. We’re doing mutual aid, we distribute food, we’re working in the educational sector and setting up programs for education and psychosocial support to help the kids process trauma and get back to a good place.

Zobian also spoke about feeling a connection between his Armenian heritage and Ethiopia, both of which are shaped by difficult histories.

I try to not put that pressure on myself. I try to just make the objective play and have a lot of gratitude and try to just thank God continually, pretty much. Praise God and play my best.

For Zobian, the result marked more than a tournament win. It capped a consistent stretch of deep runs with a title finally added at the end.
