Seven-Day Poker Celebrations
The festival will kick off on September 1 and run through September 7, and it will host no less than 11 ring events.
The headliner will be, as expected, the Main Event with an $800 buy-in, six starting fights, and a guaranteed prize pool set at a gerous $250,000.
Day 1a and Day 1b are scheduled for September 4, followed by Day 1c and Day 1d on September 5, and Day 1e and Day 1f on September 6.
As a reminder, Kentucky’s poker scene is not what you would normally expect, as it operates differently from traditional casino markets. The state does not have the brick-and-mortar casino model found in many other US jurisdictions.
Instead, venues like The Barrel Social Club function as social clubs, and players must pay membership and seat fees instead of standard casino rake.
Therefore, players attending the RGPS Golden Expedition will need to become members of the club before participating in events. Daily membership is available for as little as $10, while monthly membership options are also available.
11 Ring Events Across Seven Days
The series opens September 1 with a $300 Seniors event for players aged 50 and over.
One of the early highlights comes September 2 with the $400 PokerNews PowerStack, which carries a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The tournament will feature two Day 1 flights before concluding September 3. Players who cash will also have the opportunity to earn points toward the 2026 PokerNews PowerStack Leaderboard.
The schedule also includes a $400 Pot Limit Omaha tournament with a $25,000 guarantee on September 3, giving players an opportunity to move away from the traditional No Limit Hold’em format.
The final day will feature the $400 Labor Day Black Chip Bounty, providing another major tournament option alongside the conclusion of the Main Event.
Main Event Takes Center Stage
The $250,000 guaranteed Main Event is expected to attract players from Kentucky and beyond, particularly with an $800 buy-in putting the large guaranteed prize pool within reach of a broad tournament field.
With six starting flights spread across three days, players will have multiple opportunities to qualify for the final stages. The final table on September 7 will bring the Golden Expedition to a close.
